This new engine is quieter, more efficient, and both are derived 20Nm more torque than the outgoing engine. This means that for 2011 the engine response Freelander 2 has been improved, and the average area of strength for towing. CO2 emissions have been significantly reduced to 165g/km and 185g/km performance fuel economy similar, respectively.

Despite the reduction in fuel consumption and emissions, there is no compromise in performance. Land Rover Range Rover flagship 190PS SD4 rest 60 mph acceleration in 8.7 seconds, top speed 118 mph increased. Land Rover Freelander TD4 150 hp manual and automatic versions match the performance of its predecessor.

In addition to the EU4 and EU5 updated, both versions have a new variable turbocharger, and is widely re-calibrated to provide new levels of power, and meet emissions standards to reduce CO2 emissions. They are equipped with catalyzed diesel particulate filter as standard and is now compatible with 10 percent to 5 percent biodiesel.

Moreover, as the Land Rover Freelander 2 range, the Land Rover is also offering customers a derivative of the 2WD is available in the United Kingdom in January 2011. This is called the Land Rover Freelander 2 ed4 and is the most powerful Land Rover ever produced, with a fuel consumption of 47.2mpg combined CO2 emissions of just 158g/km and.

"The new Land Rover Freelander 2 Land Rover ED4 moves to the very popular and highly competitive two-wheel drive SUV market," said the general manager of Land Rover, Phil Popham. 2011 Land Rover LR4 Review

The new generation, one quarter of Land Rover highly versatile seven-seater vehicle gains a new name - Land Rover Discovery 4 - to go with its powerful and highly efficient new TDV6 diesel engines, the external identity of premium cabin cool. The magnitude of the first kind of capacity is further enhanced with improved on-road dynamics and off-road driving, and Land Rover has added a series of easy to use technologies and new features.

"Outgoing Land Rover Discovery 3 is more than 100 international awards to his name, but we found a way to improve almost any vehicle design, and -.. Some subtle, some major new design marks a technical amendment to complete under the skin , and gives us the Land Rover Discovery 4, "says Phil Popham, managing director.

The star at the Land Rover Discovery 4 goes to the very effective and refined new LR-TDV6 3.0 twin turbo diesel. This gives an improvement in fuel economy 9 percent (EU combined cycle) and ten percent less CO2 emissions at the same time as the power increases by 29%, all compared to the current 2.7 liter engine. The torque is increased even more, up 36% to 600 Nm - believed to be the torque output the highest of any 6-cylinder engine production diesel passenger car in the world.

The power and torque are both available at all engine speeds, providing instant response and the ability to cruise effortlessly. The results include a 0-60 mph time of 9.0 seconds (0-100 km / h in 9.6 seconds), an improvement of 24 percent over the 2.7-liter.

Land Rover engineers have also moved the road race, and manage next-generation Land Rover Discovery 4, and also improved by almost a legendary off-road features of its predecessor. Big changes are the new suspension components, redesigned controls, larger brakes, a traction control system improved, and improvements to the award-winning terrain response, which helps optimize the vehicle for almost any road or off-road driving situations.

The iconic exterior design has been updated, of course with smooth surfaces and simple at the front, including a new more aerodynamic bumpers. Sporting new lights help give the new car in nature, and includes LED technology and rear. The sophisticated new front headlight High Beam Assist include the switching on or off conditions require.

The interior is completely renovated and moved into a dash and center console, new seats and a host of new user-friendly features.

"The new interior are not only are much higher quality, which also won to improve its functionality. The tracks of the new console to the driver, instrumentation and controls fall easily to hand and new state LED illumination morale within the HSE models helps the interior space more pleasant and easier to use at night. We have the advantage of an indoor environment as well, with smoother surfaces, more soft materials and attention to essential details, such as pitting, "says Gerry McGovern, design director.

New features available in the Land Rover Discovery 4 also includes a portable audio interface, DAB radio, a new five-surround camera system, which makes it easier parking and towing, and a new key, which provides keyless entry and push the Start button.

"The changes and improvements to Land Rover Discovery 4 to transform many aspects of the previous generation, at the same time as increasing the flexibility and versatility, as Discovery is famous. It can carry heavy loads in its spacious interior , climb mountains, cruise through continents, tow trailers up to 3.5 tonnes, or transporting seven family and friends in comfort. I can not think of a more versatile vehicle anywhere, "says Phil Popham.

E-Land to stimulate the economy and technology to reduce CO2 emissions

The new discovery is packed with features to reduce fuel consumption and reduce CO2 emissions. The new LR-TDV6 3.0 Sequential Turbo Diesel engine was designed from scratch to provide the kind of fuel economy first, and improves low end torque.

A parallel sequential turbocharger system for a 3.0-liter diesel engine used by the biggest, most of the time the primary turbo. The smaller secondary turbo will remain in sleep mode when more power is required, reducing pumping losses and therefore fuel consumption. Very powerful, third generation common rail system with piezoelectric injectors and fuel metering, also makes a significant contribution to fuel economy.

The new engine is also optimized for low-end torque and economy, in which case you can turn the clutch lock-up is the HP-28 ZF automatic transmission at lower speeds. This reduces the "slip" is a hydraulic torque converter to improve both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. More low-end torque also allows a longer cruise transmission loss.

Discovery incorporates several energy saving features. At the stop, the idle speed of the V6 engine was reduced from 750rpm to 710rpm, which provides fuel savings without compromising refinement. Intelligent Power Management system includes intelligent regenerative charge as much as possible the alternator recharges the battery when it is cheaper to do that when the car is coasting rather than accelerating.

Aerodynamic changes to the front, lower front spoiler with revised and new front wheel deflectors, helping to reduce drag by increasing air under the floor.

The new air conditioning pump driven by a clutch that disengages when the air conditioner is not used to reduce parasitic losses and improvements in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

At the heart of improvements in the Land Rover Discovery 4 new diesel is a unique and very effective. The 3.0 TDV6 turbodiesel LR-sequence is based on the current LR-displacement 2.7-liter TDV6, but radically redesigned to provide significantly better performance, lower emissions and greater fuel economy.

2.7-liter has won many admirers as a refined diesel engine ever made. The new twin turbo, LR-TDV6 3.0 offers a significant increase in both electricity - up to 29 percent of 245PS - and torque, up 36 percent of 600 Nm The ability to provide a maximum torque of just 2000 rpm, combined with an atmosphere unparalleled significantly improve the ability of Discovery has already been praised on both road and off road.

The new 3.0-liter diesel engine can be considerably higher than their competitors by offering 500 Nm at just 500 milliseconds minimum. Point, the driver of view, this means instant access to 83 percent of peak torque.

But despite this increased power, engine emissions are drastically reduced. When equipped with the DPF, the new LR 3.0 TDV6 meets emission Euro 5 (not to come into force until 2011) and the figure of 244g/km CO2, it undermines the current 2.7-liter automatic ten percent. Fuel economy is improved by 9 percent, produces 30.4mpg (9.3 l/100km), the EU combined cycle.

The new 3.0-liter engine has been developed a common Jaguar Land Rover team that has a pedestal was designed from the beginning of the two characters in mind. High torque and quick response at low revs and is well suited to the Jaguar and Land Rover DNA. Version of the Jaguar AJ-V6D Gen III, D, was recently launched in the new Jaguar XF.

LR-TDV6 engine has a cover over his brother Jaguar, to ensure the effectiveness of the lubrication system is not compromised when venturing off road. The system to trap oil from the turbocharger has been improved to a similar reason, ensuring that no oil accumulates in the turbochargers at extreme angles in the off-road conditions.

Land Rover waterproof version for belt, which is the generator, air compressor, power steering pump and starter. The engine is specifically set to allow a greater demand for Land Rover Discovery 4, especially for towing and driving off-road.

Twin Turbos - very efficient, very responsive

A key feature of the new LR-TDV6 3.0 is a unique parallel sequential turbocharger system, the first of its kind installed in the V-engine in the world. Generates high torque throughout the speed range of the engine, improved throttle response and low CO2 emissions, twin turbochargers work in line to offer a response like no other and best-in-class low-end torque, but also pack a huge punch at higher speeds.

Driving a turbocharger requires a pressure of the exhaust, creating pumping losses in the engine and increases fuel consumption. Under the control of engine management system, valves to isolate the secondary from both the exhaust stream of the turbocharger and the intake tract of the engine when not needed. A pipe connecting two collectors balance allows gas to supply two turbo collectors around the principal.

The new 3.0-liter diesel can significantly outperform its competitors by offering 500 Nm at just 500 milliseconds between idle, unlike many diesel engines, such as turbo lag at very low speeds. From the perspective of the driver, this means instant access to 84 percent of maximum torque.

Third-generation common-rail

The new common-rail fuel injection system delivers up to five injections per cycle, 2000bar pressure. Each nozzle tip is perforated in seven holes, through which finely atomized fuel is injected into the cylinder. High-pressure injection for more power, better fuel economy and reduce emissions of CO2 and particulate matter. New, high-speed piezo injectors are designed to maintain the injection to reduce noise to a minimum.

"Packs" of piezo injectors operate each extension when an electric current is passed through them. They respond almost immediately, but make a strong click when cooking, which can add to the noise of the diesel engine at idle. The crystals in the new injectors are fitted with Land Rover closer to the edge means they are mounted on the interior of the engine give better sound insulation and quieter operation.

A new third-generation fuel injection is the "Mode". Traditional common-rail diesel pumps, injectors oversupplied with the surplus is returned to the fuel tank. During this process, the temperature of the fuel and coolant rises to spend a considerable amount of energy. In measurement mode, the pump provides the fuel injectors are only needed for speed. As a result, there is no increase in temperature of the fuel and no waste of energy.

Rugged and lightweight

The two cylinder heads with four valves per cylinder, is made of an aluminum engine block is made of compact graphite iron (CGI), as before. The tensile strength greater than the CGI can take a small block some 80mm shorter than a conventional "gray" equivalent in cast iron.

The new, water-cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), which is important to reduce pumping losses and NOx emissions from diesel engines are more efficient and consumes less power than its predecessor, with the valve allows the system to unloading is in the "hot side" closer to the engine exhaust manifolds. These valves are not cool when the engine is running, so there is no condensation of combustion deposits which takes place the engines were equipped with a "cold side" valves, so that the EGR system always operates at full power . Since the EGR cooling is so effective, the exhaust gases can bypass the system and return to the exhaust pipes that allow faster engine warm-up period, and begin to reduce emissions further.

EU 5 emissions are achieved through conventional catalysts and diesel oxidation diesel particulate filters (DPF). NOX levels are sufficiently reduced at source by designing the combustion system, the addition of the new common rail injection system and EGR with new bypass. As a result, specialized NOX after-treatment is unnecessary, thus avoiding the potential costs and the need to use other precious metals in the exhaust system.

Greater sophistication

CGI cylinder block and new piezo injector design reduces combustion noise in the new engine. Multiple injections of fuel in the precise race also reduce combustion noise and combustion engine including all the covers camshaft covers, the front pages and the marsh has been optimized to suppress noise.

A new analysis of diesel has been using the latest techniques of computer-aided design, followed by a complete test. All the chambers of the motor coasts to minimize radiated noise.

Internal friction, a major unnecessary fuel consumption, was approached by careful optimization of the crankshaft, valves and pistons. All these features combine to make the new LR-TDV6 3.0 diesel turbo sequential one of the quietest diesel premium in the market today, with service intervals of 16.000 miles has increased.

Levels of sophistication of the new LR-TDV6 engine is such that Land Rover's patented device for the filler neck of diesel fuel, to reduce the risk of fueling with gasoline, inadvertently, is mounted on the new Land Rover Discovery fourth

New transmission response

The LR-3.0 TDV6 is coupled to the review and super smooth ZF HP28 6-speed automatic transmission. Its characteristics have been optimized by Land Rover engineers to provide a first class response, with rapid changes and refined. The dramatic improvement in power and torque at low engine speed range of the new engine allowed to operate in lock-up clutch transmission much earlier in each speed, reducing drag through the hydraulic torque converter to help improve fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Dynamically change

Dynamic major advances introduced by the Land Rover Discovery 4 Architecture include revised suspension, improved steering, bigger brakes and improved versions of the award winning Response field of Land Rover and Hill Descent Control system.

List of changes from new suspension knuckles, with the aim of reducing the suspension from each other and roll from the center of gravity of the vehicle (a reduction of 42 mm front and 62 mm rear). This significantly reduces the body's natural movements of the car when cornering. Roll these prices are still controlled by a larger and stiffer anti-roll bar.

It also increases the bushes and the new new front and rear ride quality shock absorbers.

The variable rate rack and pinion assembly revise, supplement improved ride quality by reducing the "twitchiness' around the axis at high cruising speed and sensitivity increased slightly to higher lock angles. This increases the feeling of participation of the pilot high-speed maneuvers, and also increases the precision control at low speed and off-road.

The modified front bumper to help the steering feel, for its new anti-roll lips to reduce aerodynamic lift front of vehicle up to 50% at higher speeds.

Stop the increased power

The biggest new braking system was introduced with the new engine to serve the Land Rover Discovery 4 best performance and improve braking feel.

This new system is derived from the four-piston opposed caliper system performance used in the Land Rover Range Rover Sport. It uses a 360 mm disc, ventilated front with a new cast iron twin-piston caliper slide - which serves to reduce the size of the front brake package while maintaining its rigidity, which helps deliver an excellent pedal feel .

The rear uses a single sliding piston vented disc caliper 350 mm, which is now made of aluminum to help reduce vehicle weight.

Also, before the brake system is a new feature emergency brake light. When the vehicle commits a serious or emergency braking, brake lights flash to reduce the risk of collisions.

Add to the control curves

A refinement of the system management control can automatically brake the car when taking a turn too fast, increase the driver's control.

The system operates on the control inputs of the driver. In extreme cases, the automatic braking will reduce vehicle speed, the level of brake pressure is used in accordance with the steering inputs. The automatic braking to the "emergency" can be used when the application for entry.

Updates to gain ground ResponseTM and Hill Descent Control

4 for the Discovery, Land Rover's terrain response system, award-winning gets new features and enhancements to further expand its off-road vehicle tires feature. Terrain Response system to optimize the vehicle set-up for almost all of the road or off-road driving conditions, five different settings to suit different terrains:

General Conduct

Grass / gravel / snow

Sand

Mud and ruts

Rock crawling

If the soft sand - one of the power-hungry surfaces - "Launch Control Sand 'was introduced, which allows much easier to escape. The new, depending on the speed of the wheel-slip traction control system objectives allow only a very limited slip Initial wheel, to help prevent the wheels to dig up the sand.

When picking a road leading through the rocks, the joints can lead to difficult vehicle leaning one way desirable, requiring a simultaneous braking and acceleration. News for Land Rover Discovery 4, revision of the program to improve climbing and braking response time traction control, which helps reduce the tendency of the car to drive across rocks and give a more complex drive through a rocky terrain.

Land Rover's acclaimed Hill Descent Control is to improve the Land Rover Discovery 4, except that the Gradient Release Control. This prevents the initial acceleration when descending steep hills, increase control and eliminate potentially alarming deficiencies that arise when the brake is released at extreme angles.

The system operates automatically, Hill Descent is enabled, temporarily maintains brake pressure after the driver released the brake pedal. Then gradually help the brake pressure to control the vehicle speed and acceleration. When the off-road vehicle speed is achieved, Hill Descent Control will take the vehicle to the bottom of the track is the usual way.

A new face on a distinctive design

The Land Rover Discovery has changed the design of a heritage of more than 20 years and four generations of iconic vehicle, instantly recognizable. Land Rover Discovery 4 inherits the clean lines of the previous generation, but now subtly updated and given a higher level, a more contemporary look.

Smooth, simple surfaces used in the front, giving the vehicle a new character, highlighted by the lights in front of the sporting future, with new LED lights set in a profile of the firm, increasing individual units around light principal. It also introduces a new light on the rear of the vehicle, which incorporates technology LED brake, tail and indicators.

The new front bumper has larger cooling hole to match the new engine more power. Cleverly, a larger buffer to truly improve aerodynamics of a vehicle, reducing drag, thanks to its innovative anti-drag "lips", which facilitate the flow of air around the front wheels in the front bumper.

Again, two seven-spoke 19 "wheel design introduced on the Land Rover Discovery 4 to complete the current 7-spoke 19" wheels and, for the first time, hitting a new 10-spoke 20 "wheels are available as a factory fit option.

Three new full color external changes to Land Rover Discovery 4 - Nara bronze, blue and sand Bali Ipanema.

Completely new interior

"Inside the Land Rover Discovery 4 continues to offer drivers and passengers excellent visibility and versatility. But the redesigned dashboard and console architecture and use of premium materials, make the car a much more attractive place to be. " Gerry McGovern

The new interior Land Rover Discovery 4 combines smooth surfaces and flows significantly reduces the complexity and volume control. It provides a much softer, flexible premium interior, but still with a signature architectural theme of the Discovery.

The new console is angled towards the driver to control, visibility and access. It seems more to point out that as the Range Rover Sport, Discovery 3 Output Control Terrain Response is now more prominently located opposite the center console, opening the way for a cup easier to drive along the center console.

All models feature a new steering wheel, revised to change the layout data of the driver, remote audio controls, cruise control and heated steering wheel.

Natural selection-Target Woods, as well as sewn and wrapped instrument panel, center console and doors, add a custom-crafted feel. There are also two new interior colors, however, half shade darker than the Arabica and nutmeg, to supplement the existing Almond Colourway bright interior.

The new headquarters is introduced for lines one and two, with a new profile seat cushion before expanding to better support and comfort of the seats and for the first time, the front seats have height-adjustable headrests in place of handles traditional seat-mounted. HSE vehicles specified with the Premium package with leather seat also electrically adjustable lateral reinforcement, which allows occupants to adjust their chairs in front for support.

For convenience, electric seats with memory control is shifted to the cabinet door.

New interior lighting mood is the finishing touch on the inside, with the introduction of white LEDs to cast halos around subtle silver interior door handles and pockets. The console and center fascia with soft seam, and the apparatus is shown in the "noble" of finalists also benefit from the ambient lighting inside the vehicle when the lights are on.

"Hinata help function (selected via the touch screen menu) to perform precise movements of the towing side view of the wide range of cameras provide a clear picture of the trailer is reversed: the images are electronically manipulated to provide distorted vision, guidelines on the top a rearview camera and the image shows the trajectory of the vehicle and trailer.

Specific characteristics such as type of trailer axles and width guides can be entered into the system to improve the system outputs.

Another support for towing, trailer stability assist, detects the oscillations of the trailer followed by a significant tool such behavior steering movements without being invited and the swing of light vehicles in response to the behavior trailer. In these circumstances, the system can initiate engine torque reduction and brake intervention to bring the tractor under control.

2011 Land Rover Range Rover Review

"2011 Land Rover Range Rover to maintain its position as one of the most complete luxury cars in the world. It is a combination of reducing CO2 emissions and excellent engine performance will continue to reiterate to industry benchmarks. And the introduction of Our brand new "super-diesel," we see the Land Rover Range Rover produces over 30mpg for the first time. "Phil Popham, Land Rover CEO

A new class of leaders V8 diesel, new gearbox 8, Terrain Response ® two major improvements and subtle style combine to ensure outside the Range Rover retains its crown as the 2011 king of the luxury SUV segment.

The parallel sequential LR-TDV8 4.4-liter turbocharged replaces the LR-TDV8 values of 3.6 liters and is unique to Land Rover Range Rover. A new "super-diesel", the LR-TDV8 combines more power and torque with high levels of refinement. Despite the extra performance, the V8 engine is sublime, cleaner also offers fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions than its predecessor and even meet the strict EU5 emission standards. Headlines, however, is that fuel consumption in combined cycle of the new 4.4-liter LR-TDV8 is 30.1mpg, making it the first Land Rover Range Rover better 30mpg.

With 313PS and 700 Nm of torque, for the new Range Rover transmission power of consciousness, to reduce CO2 emissions by an impressive 14 percent. The new diesel engine is assisted in this regard by his marriage with an impressive new, electronically controlled ZF 8HP70, 8-speed automatic transmission, developed by Land Rover engineers to combine moves silky smooth with an exceptionally fast response and excellent fuel economy. This combination is quite disheartening to catapult Land Rover Range Rover from rest to 60 mph in just 7.5 seconds and complete the 50 mph-75 mph dash in just 5.1 seconds.

Only available in 4.4 liters LR-TDV8 models, the "intelligent" transport integrated with the diesel engine to provide the operating system more efficient in all conditions. To reflect the performance of the new 4.4-liter LR-TDV8, diesel models are equipped with the same basic set of Brembo brakes mounted 5.0-liter supercharged V8-LR model. To provide the stopping power needed for larger the better vehicle performance, the system consists of ventilated front discs 380 mm aluminum single, lightweight six-piston monobloc opposite action. 365mm ventilated discs with single piston sliding calipers are mounted on the rear.

For 2011, the Range Rover retains the first class, same 5.0-liter supercharged V8 petrol LR-married to the ZF HP28 6-speed automatic introduced in 2010. Developing 510ps and 625 Nm of torque supercharged V8 LR-take the Land Rover Range Rover 0-60 mph in a breathtaking 5.9 seconds.

2011 Range Rover is to improve further improve the Terrain Response ® system in the form of Hill Start Assist Control and the acceleration gradient. The interior is optional for the front doors, illuminated treadplates transfer controls for the new diesel model, and improvements to the entertainment system. Detail changes include a new discovery "Jupiter" grills and side vents for diesel models.

A new option package Exterior Design allows customers to give their Land Rover Range Rover a more personal look and new colors and wheels were added to the range.

TECHNOLOGY to reduce emissions e_TERRAIN

e_TERRAIN technologies are designed to specifically target emissions and improve the efficiency of Land Rover vehicles, without compromising luxury, refinement and off-road tire characteristics.

2011 Range Rover gains a powerful 4.4-liter engine LR-TDV8, which realizes the reduction of CO2 emissions by 14 per cent to 294g/km and 253g/km compared to the outgoing 3.6-liter LR-TDV8 replaces . LR-new TDV8 is also in accordance with the latest Euro 5 emission standards that significantly reduce emissions of HC, CO2 and NOx.

Capacity increase of 22 percent over the 3.6-liter LR-TDV8 is responsible for the lower specific power than the smaller engine, significantly reduces emissions of NOx engine failure situation. New ceramic glow plugs operate at 250 ° C hotter than the previous one, and the units are more durable than steel. These factors allow you to run after starting the glow plugs longer (100 seconds) and more often, to improve efficiency and reduce emissions. LR-diesel V8 has been designed to deliver higher torque at low revs from the beginning, and is full of state-of-the-art performance features.

The new ZF 8-speed 8HP70 transfer is set to enjoy a couple of the LR-TDV8 low-end torque converter lock to be selected as soon as possible to reduce slippage and loss of energy. The largest share media, saturated greatest progress and that no more than two internal clutches are open at any time, all contribute to fuel economy and emissions.

Idle Transmission Control released the 70 per cent of the disc, when the vehicle is stopped and the unit is idling, thereby reducing the consumption of the city. In cold conditions, the transmission selects a lower gear to promote rapid heating and get the engine up to its effective operating temperature as quickly as possible.

Land Rover Range Rover Intelligent Power Management System ensures that the alternator charges the battery (and draw energy from the engine) is both more effective, as when the vehicle is coasting rather than accelerating. The electrical system is adjusted so that only the battery must be recharged to 80 percent, reduce the load on the generator. He is also the moderate tax rates in cold weather when the battery is less able to cope with high tax rates, which increases the battery life to reduce costs and environmental impact.

Power corresponds to consciousness, the new 4.4-liter LR-TDV8

The all-new 4.4-liter LR-TDV8, specially designed for Land Rover Range Rover TDV8 replaces the LR-and 3.6-liter combined yield increased significantly with significantly lower emissions. Acceleration from rest to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds versus 8.6 seconds from the previous 3.6-liter LR-TDV8, while the speed increases above 125 mph to 130 mph. More importantly, mid-range acceleration from 50 mph, 75 mph has improved only 6.3 seconds to 5.1 seconds. However, CO2 emissions fell by just 294g/km to 253g/km compared to the LR-TDV8 output of 3.6 liters, a huge reduction of 14 percent. The most impressive of all, the combined fuel economy has improved by 18.5 percent from 25.4 to 30.1 mpg making it the first Range Rover to dive in the 30mpg barrier. The new engine also meets the strict EU5 emission, so that emissions of NOx, CO2 and HC are the lowest in the world for a motor of this type.

Despite these dramatic reductions, power and torque have soared from 272p and 640 nm at 3750 rpm and 700 Nm of torque 313PS at just 2,000 rpm. More important is how the power and torque to interact with each other to the impressive overall performance. Maximum torque is available between 1,500 rpm to 3,000 rpm, but maximum power, then kicks in at 3250 rpm 4000 rpm producing a performance from idle wall. None of this has been achieved at the expense of delivering fine and if the power of the LR-TDV8 4.4-liter is smooth, very soft, whispering across the range of engine speeds.

A new block in CGI is the basis for the new V8 engine and even the same design for the outgoing 3.6-liter engine is higher for a host. Longer stroke and more than 11mm to make room for distribution channels in duplex robust new engine has a forged steel crankshaft, which is itself larger than the old 3.6-liter is not heavier through careful optimization. Aluminum pistons with steel rods connecting the combustion chambers incorporate optimized for high power and low emissions.

A unique approach to package some accessories allow the 4, 4 liters LR-TDV8 to slot perfectly into the engine compartment, despite its larger exterior dimensions. The oil filter, engine oil cooler and EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) cooler is designed as a device that is in the middle of the back of 'V' minimum space. Break housing is formed by the middle of the assembly, design and includes a cyclone for separating oil droplets from smoke, consumed back into the engine.

Cylinder heads have four valves per cylinder and camshafts in the head with two beds, and covers a sample of composite materials, blocks cylinder heads with elastomeric seals to significantly reduce the sound. Glow plugs made of steel and 3.6-liter LR-TDV8 has been replaced by a new light ceramic plugs to heat up to about 250 ° C and are more from the instant the key is, under normal circumstances. Even at room temperature -30 ° C and the new design of candles warmed twice as fast as before.

Parallel sequential turbochargers - lightning fast, extremely efficient

The key to the new engine performance and efficiency are the parallel sequential turbocharger system, which is similar in concept to that of the amazing 2010 3.0-liter LR-TDV6 Discovery launched on 4 In normal driving, operating a medium-sized variable geometry turbocharger alone maximize efficiency. When the engine beyond 2400 rpm upward, the valves in the exhaust manifold and open a smaller, secondary turbo accelerates smoothly at full speed in just 20 milliseconds, full bi-turbo operation reached in just 180 ms with some phase delay or power. This method provides the second turbocharger to remain in standby mode when not needed, improving engine efficiency by reducing pumping losses. A balance tube connecting the two manifolds equalize the pressure between the two exhaust systems.

Parallel sequential turbocharger - Summary of advantages:

Most of the time only one turbocharger is in use (up to highway speeds and cruise half throttle). Because it is a means, rather than large variable geometry turbocharger, the answer is excellent with no noticeable delay.

The packaging is excellent, one of the turbo and exhaust manifold on each cylinder bank.

The combination of two turbochargers, it is possible to optimize the efficiency and performance at any time.

Because a turbocharger is used most of the time, pumping losses are reduced.

More efficient than systems with small primary turbocharger series turbocharger increases the pumping losses and fuel consumption due to increased pressure-cons.

Third-generation common-rail reflects LR TDV6 3.0 liters is a pressure up to 2000 bar. Eight-hole piezo injectors, (compared with seven-hole 3.0-liter TDV6 LR) has been further optimized engine emissions and to promote the EU5 space and minimize noise. Previously, the Common Rail fuel pumps are designed to over-supply rails for the nozzle, the surplus re-circulated back into the tank. This approach significantly increase the fuel temperature and fuel meant was cooled before being returned to the tank, wasting energy. The new system will provide the demand for fuel, which increases efficiency and reduces the amount of cooling air is required.

The LR-TDV8 auxiliary drive-belts have been reduced from seven to six ribs output 3.6-liter LR-TDV8, which reduces the thickness of the blocks, improved efficiency, weight gain and reduce the engine length 4 mm. The use of an extensible belt to drive the fan and a dynamic belt tensioner alternator 6 ribs eliminates any need for adjustment during the interview in both cases.

The LR-TDV8 Land Rover is the first engine designed from the SAPS to use low sulfated ash, phosphorus, sulfur) oil, reducing the accumulation of ash in the DPF (diesel particulate filter) for longer life and better efficiency. Conventional coupling oxidation catalysts are used for the subsequent treatment of exhaust gases. Lubrication is the last low viscosity 5W-30 oil to improve the efficiency during the heating phase.

Viscous fan is no longer installed on the water pump when the optimization of the bearings to improve the efficiency and reliability. This also allows you to use larger fans, 500mm and 520 mm to give a lot of cooling, a larger engine.

The 4.4-liter LR-TDV8 is designed for "top-down" service and does not need to be lifted on a ramp, even for oil changes. The oil filter unit mounted EGR on the unit "V" is the first to loosen the drain plug in pan, then unscrewed and replaced with no problem. Under normal circumstances, the oil is not removed from the tank in a conventional manner but taken from the top of the engine by a pump special service from the dealer. Service intervals 15,000 miles.

A facility for changing the oil at the bottom of the engine is kept for maintenance in remote areas without access to equipment for extracting oil. There is no indicator, oil level is electronically controlled by an ultrasonic sensor, informing the driver of both the oil level and the amount of oil to be added.

"The performance of our new LR-TDV8 can only be described as impressive. We are convinced that the combination of reducing CO2 emissions, compliance EU5 and the massive increase in performance while providing a great improvement in the economy fuel, is world class. "Paul Walker, chief engineer of the program

Intelligent payment systems to improve efficiency

Intelligent energy control means no fuel is wasted in power generation systems for Land Rover Range Rover Electrical. IPMS Land Rover (Intelligent Power Management System) ensures that the generator does not work - and the engine consumes fuel is more - than is strictly necessary. Rather than maintaining the status of the battery voltage in a 100 percent unnecessary, aims to preserve the battery IPMS 80 percent tax to prevent the alternator is working harder than necessary. The generator is configured to load when possible, when the car is slowed (rather than during acceleration) by recovering the kinetic energy in the process. Recharge rates of the alternator 220 amps powerful (which replaces the unit's 3.6-liter 150 amps) is carefully moderated when it is cold to extend the battery life.

ZF 8HP70 Automatic partners in a 4.4-liter LR-TDV8

The first ever 8-speed mounted on a Land Rover, ZF 8HP70 transmission offers unprecedented response to the driving pleasure while driving fuel consumption and CO2 emissions at a historically low level. Few, if any, automatic transmissions, including ZF 6HP28 MY10 and MY11-mounted range of petrol models of Land Rover Range Rover, is able to handle the maximum torque of 700 nm, the new LR-TDV8 product. Eight speeds allow closer ratios and a higher overall rate spread, while the overdrive ratio greater compliments to the huge torque 4.4-liter LR-TDV8, reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Efficiency is further enhanced by the layout 8HP70 internal mechanical means that no more than two internal clutches are open simultaneously.

8HP70 is full of energy-saving features. Hydraulic actuator system is also more efficient hydraulic motor drawing less power. The torque converter is calibrated to the lock-up at low speeds and temperatures, reduces fuel consumption and re-use 4.4-liter LR-TDV8 incredible low-end torque. Idle Transmission Control seamlessly and transparently, released 70 percent of the disk, when the vehicle is stopped and the unit to a minimum, reducing the resistance of the engine and save fuel. 8HP70 is a brain too. In hot conditions, select a lower gear and the engine to run the air conditioning to cool faster than the pump house quickly. In cold conditions, is the search engine warm-up time and reduces emissions.

In addition, CO2 emissions-busting rationalization 8HP70 offers performance benefits too. After only 200 milliseconds to complete the whole event turns 8HP70 relationships become unnoticeable torque interruption until now, well two clutch and remove the "head-nod." 8HP70 engine speed equivalent to the speed of the turbine in anticipation of the climb on the way, and a gradual transition from relationship to relationship ever. Closer relationship also contributes to the individual scales that control the sweetest pick-up speed during downshifts.

Type detection monitors driver inputs and the driver of the car systems to optimize the transmission response in the driver's style, while the detection curve ensures the box is boring and prevents upshifts to same speed during a sequence of turns. The gearbox also oversees the use of driver's braking deceleration rate to establish the correct gear and in the corner. The 8HP70 is not changing at a slower rate sequentially and can jump up to six reports, if necessary, at a much faster response when preparing to duplicate.

Driver controls are steering wheel-mounted paddle-shift as standard allows the driver to control the manual transmission. CommandShift lever knob is replaced by the selection of park, reverse, neutral, drive, or sports facilities, the last of these, optimizing response times for the largest acceleration gear, best and sharpest upshifts. Knob is flush with the center console, while the power is turned off, gets up, when lit. To avoid confusion, Terrain Response ® switch is replaced with the new Terrain Response ® Switch Optimization.

"The new gearbox 8 is one of the most sophisticated transmissions available. Tuned by Land Rover engineers, it fits perfectly with the characteristics of the new V8 diesel for maximum efficiency, response time and excellent driving experience ultimate sophistication. "Ron Lee, chief engineer of powertrain

In 2011, there are two further improvements, Hill Start Assist Control and Acceleration gradient. Hill Start Assist maintains the brake pressure has generated the original driver, long enough for the foot to the gas pedal without the vehicle rolling backwards. The brake is released, after enough time has elapsed, or when the engine is to provide sufficient torque to move the car up the hill. Hill Start Assist is always available, no choice and not the driver of its activities.

Control the acceleration gradient is designed to provide security coverage for serious increases when the driver has not committed Hill Descent Control. Pressing the brake system, brake car GAC to a limit determined by the position of gas when the car down the hill towards the driver's intention. This includes reducing the slope in front in the drive, or back in the opposite direction. Otherwise (as in decline, while turning up gradation player selected) GAC limits the speed to 5 km / h (3.1 mph) for up to 20 seconds, allowing the driver to regain control adequate.
